Visual Riffs is a bold new LIMITED EDITION book by Ed Kashi, published by Eyeshot.

Rather than a retrospective, it’s a reimagining of over 45 years of work—images taken across 100 countries, covering social, political, and human stories that remain relevant today. The project brings together photographs from different decades and geographies to create new visual sequences.

Each “riff” starts with a theme and unfolds as a visual response, similar to a jazz solo: improvised but intentional. By pairing images from diverse contexts, Visual Riffs creates unexpected connections and fresh narratives. The book reflects Kashi’s ongoing belief in photography as a global language. It invites viewers to explore how meaning can shift over time and through new contexts—and how photography can continue to speak in the present.
