National Geographic: OurShot

National Geographic has instituted a new feature on their website that some may find enjoyable.

OurShot features images that are selected on a daily basis by the National Geographic photo editors.

One of Ed's images from his recent trip to India was featured on November 27.

One Way

I am finally back home for a while after being on the road since early September. I am finished with my India project and quite excited about the results. Next year will be an exciting time for unveiling new short films, including one from the India project which was produced for National Geographic magazine.

Since I returned home, Herbie, my father in law who has been living with us for nearly two years, has fallen further towards the end. It's all quite beautiful on the one hand, to see him at home, peaceful, with dignity and comfort. It's also difficult to see a person dying. Two weeks ago, while teaching a multimedia workshop for ICP (International Center of Photography) in New York, I decided to give myself a small exercise related to my feelings about Herbie. I used my Sony Cybershot camera, which shoots stills and video, to create this short piece... ...the idea was to capture, without text, my feelings about Herbie's passage. I have titled it One Way.
